Details

A charming vintage wicker handbag from the 1950s, featuring a structured box silhouette, tightly woven natural wicker, and beautiful marbled amber Lucite top handles. The warm tortoiseshell coloring of the handles gives the bag a polished, slightly glamorous finish while still keeping that classic mid-century summer look.

The bag is finished with gold-tone metal hardware, a secure center clasp, and small protective feet along the base. Inside, it has a cream lining with a burgundy-trimmed slip pocket and its original Bayne Taylor label, marked British Crown Colony of Hong Kong. The labeled interior and distinctive Lucite handles make this an especially collectible example of a mid-century wicker handbag.

Perfect for summer events, vintage styling, vacations, or display as part of a handbag collection.

Measurements

Measurements are approximate and taken across the exterior of the bag.

Width: 9.5”
Height: 6”

Condition

Very Good vintage condition.

The wicker exterior remains well structured and in very good shape, with light signs of age and previous use. The amber Lucite handles remain intact, and the gold-tone hardware shows mild surface wear and age-related patina.

The interior shows visible discoloration, markings, and general wear to the cream lining, particularly along the bottom and side seams. There is also some age-related wear around the lining edges, but the original label remains present and readable.
