1920s Peach Antique Silk Satin Floor-Length Gown with Chiffon Bodice & Lace Trim
Details
A beautiful antique 1920s floor-length silk-satin gown in the softest peach tone, featuring an airy gathered chiffon bodice, delicate lace shoulder panels, flutter sleeves, and a romantic empire-style silhouette. The softly draped front falls into a long fluid skirt, while the back features a deep V neckline finished with lace trim and a waist tie for shaping.
The combination of silk, chiffon, aged lace, and the incredibly feminine cut gives this piece that unmistakable 1920s softness we love. An especially beautiful example of early vintage lingerie and dressing-gown construction that could be worn, collected, or displayed.
Measurements
Measurements reflect the approximate garment circumference where appropriate.
Bust / underarm: approx. 32” relaxed, up to approx. 40” gently pulled
Waist: approx. 28” relaxed, up to approx. 36” gently pulled
Total length: approx. 57”
The gathered bodice allows some flexibility through the bust, and the waist can be adjusted using the back tie.
Vintage sizing can vary significantly from modern sizing. For the most accurate fit, we recommend measuring a similar silk slip or gown that already fits you well and comparing those measurements directly with the garment measurements above.
The gown is modeled on a wearer with the following approximate body measurements:
Bust: 32”
Underbust: 29”
Waist: 26”
High hip / lower tummy: 31.5”
Full hip: 36”
Fit Notes
The adjustable waist tie allows the gown to be drawn in for a more fitted silhouette. The tie appears to have been altered at some point in its life, and one side is longer than the other. Because of this, one side needs to be cinched slightly tighter when tying to create an even fit.
Based on the measurements and adjustable construction, this piece offers some flexibility in sizing. Please rely primarily on the garment measurements rather than modern size labels.
Condition
Very Good Antique Condition.
Beautifully preserved overall for a garment approaching a century in age. The main condition note is the altered waist tie described above, with uneven tie lengths. Otherwise, the silk, chiffon, and lace present beautifully with the gentle character and age expected of an authentic 1920s garment.
