1930s Buttercream Bias-Cut Rayon Dress with Lace Ruffle Collar
Details
A beautiful true 1930s bias-cut satin gown in a soft buttercream yellow, featuring an ornate ivory lace neckline and a long, fluid silhouette. The bodice is softly gathered beneath the bust, creating gentle fullness through the chest before flowing into a fitted waist and elegant floor-length skirt.
The wide lace neckline is the most special detail of this piece, with layered floral lace, delicate ruffled edging, and a softly pointed shape at the center front. The back features a deep V-neckline with overlapping satin panels, adding another romantic period detail. Its luminous satin, feminine lacework, and graceful bias-cut construction make it a beautiful example of 1930s lingerie design.
Originally created as a nightgown, this piece can be styled today as a romantic evening dress, bridal or rehearsal-dinner look, special-occasion gown, or collectible vintage garment.
Measurements
Measurements are taken flat while the garment is laid naturally. Bust and waist measurements are doubled to reflect approximate circumference.
Bust: 30”
Waist: 31”
Length: 54.5”
Best suited for approximately XS–S, depending on desired fit and individual proportions. Because the gown is cut on the bias, it may offer some natural flexibility through the body. Please refer to measurements, as vintage sizing differs from modern sizing.
Condition
Good vintage condition. This piece shows very light areas of discoloration consistent with its age and history. The discoloration is subtle, and the gown presents beautifully overall and remains wearable.
